Published: 11/05/2013

Apache Tomcat 7.0.40 has been released on 9th May 2013, new release contains security fix and a number of bug fixes and improvements compared to previous version (7.0.39). This release include security fix for CVE-2013-2071 (bug #54178) an information disclosure issue and improved handling and reporting if a Concurrent Modification Exception occurs while checking for memory leaks when a java web application is being stopped, also ensure that the exception doesn't cause remaining checks to be skipped.

Catalina engine has been updated with tomcat's internal copy of Commons FileUpload to FileUpload version 1.3, protection against AsyncListener implementations that throw RuntimeExceptions in response to an event (please see ASF Bugzilla - Bug #54178 for details). Coyote connector improvement to ensure write errors when using HTTP Upgrade with the APR/native connector result in IOExceptions rather than errors being silently swallowed. Jesper changes and improvements include added location information for exceptions thrown by JspDocumentParser, added support for CSV lists with the ForEach tag plugin, and various fixes to stop Tomcat attempting to parse text that looks like an EL expression in a JSP document as an EL expression when EL expressions are either not permitted or not even enabled.

New release has fix for minor threading issue in JDBC Connection Pool and fixed NPE in SlowQueryReportJmx when running TestSlowQueryReport test. Eclipse JDT Compiler has been updated to version 4.2.2 and Apache Commons Daemon to version 1.0.15. Apache Tomcat 7.0.40 has been tested by goJava.net team for 2 days and passed all stability tests. Tomcat version 7.0.40 is available under Java Hosting Control Panel with every java / tomcat hosting package.
